Where do Suiseki Stones come from?

Suiseki Stones

Suiseki Stones are legally collected from a variety of streams and rivers across the world.  Different rivers tend to create their own unique stone style due to the ecology of the river and the way in which the water develops the stones over time.

Due to their wide popularity in China, many stones are collected from the Yangtze River and shipped across the world.  The most beautiful stones however tend to be kept within the country and join the most prestigious collections.

However, beautiful stones can also be found at nearby rivers and steams.  California has many rivers that are ideal for collecting stones. It is important to make sure that you are legally permitted to collect the stones.
